In 1993 my husband Lance  and I moved to the west valley from San Diego with our three children.  We raised our family here, and are now celebrating our roles as grandparents to five grandchildren and share our home with 3 rescue dogs.  In 2007 we moved to Goodyear and have watched the city and region grow from quiet suburbs to a growing economic center while still providing safety and accessibility for all residents ranging from youth and teens, families building their lives here, and retirees.

My family has a long history of public service; during my career with the City of Phoenix, I worked as a human resources professional  in the Parks & Recreation Department, Law Department, Phoenix Convention Center, and Water Services Department until I retired in 2014.  My husband’s career experience includes deputy sheriff, probation officer and social worker.  Each of our children volunteered for military service upon high school graduation, and now make their careers in the public sector as a west valley police officer, a civilian employee for Air National Guard, and an attorney for US Attorney Office.

My husband and I are long time members of Skyway Church in Goodyear. You can also find my family regularly patronizing local businesses, enjoying Goodyear community events, chasing our grandkids through the beautiful Goodyear parks, and walking our dogs.

After retirement, I became a board member of the Three Rivers Historical Society, a non-profit focused on the shared history of Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Tolleson. This experience inspired me to get involved in Goodyear. I attended the Citizen’s Academy (now LEAD) and the Police Citizen’s Academy.  I was selected to serve as a volunteer on the City’s Arts & Culture Commission and became the chair in 2017. In 2016 I was appointed to the Citizen’s Water Conservation Committee, a two-year commitment to learn about water and conservation and to make recommendations to the City Council.   All of the committee’s recommendations were accepted and implemented by the city.

Another important resource I used to increase my knowledge of the west valley was to attend Leadership West, a leadership development program with a focus on learning about important aspects of the west valley including infrastructure, public safety, and economic development to name a few.  It provides invaluable network opportunities to engage and collaborate with leaders from government, business, health care, education, non-profits and more.

In 2018, a city council seat was vacated, and I was one of the applicants to apply for an appointment.  On July 2, 2018 I was sworn in to complete the remainder of that term. I campaigned and was re-elected by the Goodyear community to serve a full term in July 2019.
